PROGRAM  |  Fiver’s approach to college preparation begins between 7th and 8th grades with Early College Awareness. Participants in this program stage are given the opportunity to visit colleges in central New York State and New York City and are provided with academic advising and high school entrance counseling (Step Up to High School). Step Up to College begins in 10th grade, with multi-day college tours throughout the northeast, introductory workshops, and college-planning counseling. 11th graders complete a portfolio-based program that provides them with a comprehensive college admissions plan. High school seniors receive individual admissions and financial aid counseling, and participate in a transitional seminar. Program graduates receive college retention advising and support from Fiver’s Alumni Coordinator. Who is eligible? Fiver is a 10-year sequential program, so students age in to our college access program. Participants may only be referred to Fiver at age 8 by one of our community-based partner organizations.
